On Stage
Performance of Hungarian, Italian, Portuguese, Romanian and Turkish students involved in the 2016-1-16/1/KA219/022777 “Different Stars of the Same Stage” Erasmus+ project, during the student short term mobility meeting in Tokaj, Hungary on 25. 05. 2017.

The basic idea of the play came from the Oscar-winning Hungarian short film entitled Mindenki (=Everybody / Sing). Its title is a good connection point, because in this Erasmus+ project we have many different kinds of people from different countries with different cultures, ideas and emotions, and if these get together, they become “everybody”. Then, the most interesting part is, that when they are all together, they can become a community. The play is about the power of the community, and also about the question if the community is able to handle a power coming from outside that is trying to manipulate or ruin it. So the play shows the events, the realization, the reaction, the power-demonstration and the community. In the end, everybody stands up for the one who symbolizes everybody in one person.
This performance was followed by the national legends and folk-tales.
The Hungarian folk-tale is about King Mathias and the shepherd who always tells the truth: The Golden-fleeced Lamb (Mátyás király és az igazmondó juhász – Az aranyszőrű bárány)
The Italian legend is about two mountains in the Abruzzo region: the Mountain of Maiella, which looks like a sleeping lady and Gran Sasso (big rock)
The Portuguese legend is about the birth of the Azores islands. (In the performance the nine brothers are presented with some Hungarian help. 🙂
In the Romanian legend art is the most important when building the most beautiful church, even if love is the victim.
The Turkish legend is about the tragic romance of Farhad and Shirin, in which the female ruler of Amasya (for her sister’s hand in marriage) demands a water tunnel in the nearby mountain to bring water to the town from a far distance spring.
